Artist Statement
My work explores women’s emotional endurance and bodily experiences, emphasizing feelings that are left unspoken in everyday life. Focusing on quiet and privately difficult moments, my multimedia paintings reveal the hidden reality of being female: we are constantly managing pain. Much like how emotions are shielded internally but rarely acknowledged outwardly, my paintings ruminate on what is felt beneath the surface rather than what is openly shown.
In my practice, I work with figurative imagery and symbolic surrealism to support an archetypical feminine narrative. Primarily painting with acrylics, I let color do the emotional lifting to create intensity and intimacy. I am deeply influenced by the artist Amrita Sher-Gil, whose work bridged Indian subjects with Western painterly approaches. Her ability to portray women with vulnerable depth and quiet intensity has been an important reference for my own practice. It’s my pleasure to create works that are engaging and involving, encouraging my viewers to place themselves within the narrative and ask provoking questions.
